Yesterday while flying with Richard and Bessie, we discovered that our transponder was not reporting altitude. After getting home I pinged Cody, who does avionics work, to see if he could take a look at the issue. He offered a couple of times, and Saturday afternoon offered the best weather, so I took him up on it. Houston is only 20 miles, a very quick little hop.
We did a little diagnosis, enough for us to isolate the issue to a couple of areas that I can explore a little further.
By the time I was headed back, it was dark, so I took the opportunity to get 3 full stop landings in to get night current. I love flying at night, so it is not hard to talk me into doing a little more.
